Scott Dixon leads Indianapolis 500 at halfway point - Los Angeles Times

Mon, Jun 25, 2012
Racing team. Franchitti was rolling toward his pit during the first caution period when his car was tapped from behind by the car of E.J. Viso. That caused Franchitti's car to spin and tap the wall, crumpling his car's nose. After repairs, Franchitti came out 29th and then began his climb back to the front. A major crash occurred on Lap 79 when Mike Conway spun, got slightly airborne and Will Power slammed into him, with Power's car actually sliding underneath Conway's. Neither driver was injured. One of the drivers' tires also flew off and nearly struck three-time Indy 500 winner Helio Castroneves as he came up to the crash. Power leads the Izod IndyCar Series championship standings after winning the last three consecutive races, but all those were on street and twisty road courses. This is the series' first oval race of the year. Mon, Jun 25, 2012
He threw 92 pitches. Cruz, who had a solo shot an inning earlier off Outman, hit the first pitch from reliever Adam Ottavino over the center field wall for a three-run homer. "I give him Nelson Cruz and he hits the ball in the bullpen off that kid, then personally for me, I've done it wrong," Tracy said. "But I tried to get him that fifth inning, really, really hard." NOTES: Left-hander Matt Harrison, 5-0 with a 1.43 ERA his last six starts, goes for Texas in the finale. Righty Alex White (2-5) starts for Colorado, four days after allowing five earned runs in 3 2-3 innings at Philadelphia. ... Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre was charged with an error in the second on Nelson's hard-hit liner, even though it was obvious that Beltre lost sight of the ball in a background filled with white T-shirts.

Masterson snuffs Reds in Indians' 8-1 win - Lexington Herald Leader

Mon, Jun 25, 2012
Casey Kotchman singled with one out before the 38-year-old Damon drove a 2-2 pitch over the wall in right. Damon, who missed all of training camp before signing with the Indians on April 17, has been showing signs of busting out of a prolonged slump. He's batting .295 (13 for 44) in his past 16 games. "It's encouraging to see it." Acta said of Damon. "He got off to a very slow start and I know that a lot of people are going to keep looking at the batting average and stuff, but I can point out at least five games over the last 10 days where Johnny has had something to do with us winning the ballgame." Chisenhall walked for the first time in 57 at-bats this season, and Choo drew a two-out walk to bring up Cabrera, whose two-run, walk-off homer against closer Aroldis Chapman won Tuesday's game. Cabrera fell behind 0-2 before hitting his eighth homer, a shot over the wall in right-center. Arroyo was charged with five runs and eight hits in four innings - his shortest outing this season. The right-hander has just one win in his last eight starts. The Indians went up 8-0 in the seventh when they loaded the bases off Alfredo Simon and Chisenhall laced a double into the right-field corner. Notes: Votto has hit safely in nine straight games and 24 of 25. In that span, he's batting .484 (44 of 91) with six homers and 17 RBIs. ... Browns QB Brandon Weeden threw out the ceremonial first pitch. ... Reds 2B Brandon Phillips' hopes of being credited with an inside-the-park homer were denied by Major League Baseball. Phillips had appealed a ruling in Monday's game, when he was given an RBI double on a ball that skipped past left fielder Damon, who was charged with a two-base error. ... Indians DH Travis Hafner took batting practice the past two days and is moving toward a return from knee surgery. Hafner still needs to run and will likely go on a rehab assignment before being activated. ... Both teams are off Thursday. The Indians begin a three-game series in Houston on Friday while the Reds will host Minnesota.

Lexington Company Comes To America Waving Its Stars And Stripes - Sacramento Bee

Mon, Jun 25, 2012
America, and are thrilled to have finally found a home here."  Decorated with found items and seaside discoveries, the store evokes classic New England cottages.  Whitewashed cedar walls set the stage while gently weathered galley tables are curated with china and hostess gifts, vintage cupboards are artfully stocked with bathing suits and towels, and a captain's bed is transformed with signature sheets and blankets.   Prices range from $35 - $400 for bedding; $9 - $125 for home and tabletop; $89 - $395 for women's and men's clothing, and $39 - $275 for accessories.   To celebrate the debut, and just in time for Independence Day, Lexington Company launches the Stars and Stripes Collection.  Lindhe's re-imagination of the American flag emphasizes the brand's love of American heritage.  Standout items include mix and match stars and stripes bikinis, cotton gauze star scarves, oversized beach towels and plush picnic blankets. Lexington Company has grown from a small shop in Stockholm to an international lifestyle brand with twenty-six freestanding stores in five countries. It is sold at over 900 stores in more than twenty countries on four continents, including Harrods and Selfridges in London and Galeries Lafayette in Paris. Harrison gets 10th win, Rangers beat Rockies 4-2 - Lexington Herald Leader

Mon, Jun 25, 2012
He was hitting .344 in 31 games at Round Rock before getting called up this month. Nelson Cruz had a leadoff walk in the second before No. 9 batter Martin doubled off the right-center field wall. Martin scored on a double by Elvis Andrus, who finished with three hits and walked once. There were two outs again in the third when Martin pulled a two-run triple into the right-field corner for a 4-0 lead. The Rockies have gone 17 games since a starting pitcher won a game for them. They are halfway through the first time through the rotation since manager Jim Tracy's decision a week ago to go to a four-man rotation. Jeremy Guthrie, the starter whose unexpected struggles led to Tracy trying four starters, pitched 3 1-3 scoreless innings in relief of White. NOTES: The Rangers surpassed 1.5 million in attendance with their franchise-record 22nd sellout of the season. ... Texas LHP Derek Holland threw a 48-pitch bullpen session and the team said he could progress to a rehab assignment soon. He has been out nearly three weeks because of shoulder fatigue. ... Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre has one less error and Tigers 2B Chris Nelson has another double. There was a scoring change from Saturday, when Beltre was initially charged with an error after he obviously lost sight of Nelson's hard liner that went into left field. ... Nelson (swollen ankle) didn't play Sunday.

Chapman's 2nd straight blown save costs Reds - Lexington Herald Leader

Mon, Jun 25, 2012
Asdrubal Cabrera in the 10th inning at Cleveland last Tuesday. This time, Chapman relieved starter Mike Leake with a one-run edge. Joe Mauer doubled off the left-field wall with one out and Willingham followed with his 15th homer of the season, a 438-foot drive into the second level in left on a 3-1 pitch. Reds manager Dusty Baker believes Chapman's problems stem from falling behind hitters, forcing him to come in with his fastball. He can throw it at more than 100 mph, but it's less effective when batters know it's coming. "He is right," Chapman said through interpreter and assistant trainer Tomas Vera. "The last two outings, I've had that issue." Baker was determined to use Chapman (4-4) even though Leake had thrown just 86 pitches while allowing five hits and two runs with no walks and five strikeouts in eight i...
