Sun, Apr 22, 2012
Simpsonville’s Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson impressed everyone with a victory by knockout in his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) debut last February. Well, almost everyone. “He hasn’t faced nobody really tough,” said Matt “The Immortal” Brown, who is Thompson’s opponent tonight at UFC 145 in Atlanta. “I’m not too concerned with this guy’s kickboxing. I can go 100-0 beating a bunch of idiots, ...

Sun, Jan 15, 2012
SIMPSONVILLE — Hillcrest produced three champions and won its third consecutive team title during Saturday’s Greenville County wrestling tournament at the Rams’ A.C. Co-ops' donation a boost for Honor Flight program - The State

Sat, Nov 26, 2011
The program grew in the Midwest and then was picked up by Jeff Miller in Hendersonville, N.C. From there, it began spreading throughout the Southeast. The town of Simpsonville organized the first Honor Flight in South Carolina in May 2008, flying 101 veterans from the Upstate after Mayor Dennis Waldrop and his wife, Betty, saw a feature on “CBS Sunday Morning.” But the program really took wing in November 2008 when Dukes formed Honor Flight of South Carolina in the Midlands. Now, Charleston and Myrtle Beach have Honor Flight chapters, and a flight was even organized by the tiny town of Kershaw in Lancaster County. Copyright 2011 The State. All rights reserved. Project fit PUTS kids IN perpetual Motion - Greenville News

Thu, Oct 13, 2011
At first glance, the grounds at Simpsonville Elementary School look like those at any other Greenville County school. There’s a track, a soccer field, a playground and grass. Behind the school is some nondescript equipment that looks like monkey bars, a pull-up bar and a few benches. It may not look like much, but the equipment is there to challenge. It’s a challenge for the kids to get fitter, smarter and definitely more active...
