Newark avenue named after a veteran of the Army of Northern Virginia - The Newark Advocate

Sun, Nov 13, 2011
W. Main St. He died at his home July 30, 1918, at the age of 79 and was buried outside Jacksontown in Fairmont Cemetery. In 1992, a Confederate marker was placed on his grave to remember his service to the Confederacy. Was the rebel reconstructed with his northern neighbors? His obituary dated July 31, 1918, reads: "It was characteristic of him that he gave unbounded charity and was never known to press the poor for payment of a bill." Henry's life shows that after four years of suffering, death and carnage that he and countless veterans like him on both sides learned that enemies can put aside their differences and work together to make a stronger and truly United States of America.

Concert Photos of the Week - SoundSpike

Fri, Oct 21, 2011
Not to put too fine a point on it, but the strings also mirror the pin stripes in his vest. (9) Mike Malinin of Goo Goo Dolls at the Fairmont Hotel in Chicago, by Lyle A. Waisman. The magenta color is the first thing that stands out, but the eye-candy factor is followed quickly by the light, foggy, ethereal atmosphere surrounding Malinin. One often gets the sense, watching drummers play, that they are in their own world, set apart (literally) from the band. This frame brings me into his reality and makes me wonder what he's thinking. (10) Claire L. Evans of YACHT at Treasure Island Festival in San Francisco, by Tim Mosenfelder. The frame is almost all white, contrasted starkly by the pop of Evans' dark sunglasses. The shot is also a stand-out simply because of the extreme bent angle of her body as she appears to belt out her vocals.
