Into the wild blue - Douglas Budget

Sun, Feb 19, 2012
Madewell, 47, who was born and raised in Douglas, was well known for his generosity and flew approximately 20 flights for WPFC. He leaves behind five children and his significant other, Denise Murphy. “He was doing what he loved best, helping people and flying,” McDuff said. “He was a good dad and a good member of your community.” Sebesta, 35, was a graduate of  Glenrock High School and loved welcoming new babies into the world on the obstetrician floor at MHCC. She leaves behind three children. “The Memorial Hospital family was deeply saddened to learn of Jennifer’s death,” Memorial Hospital of Converse County CEO Ryan Smith said. “She had been a nurse at MHCC since 2003 and was a dedicated and caring member of our Labor and Delivery Team. Her tragic loss is only amplified by the death of Daleray, who had volunteered countless hours flying patients and families to regional healthcare facilities as a Pilots for Christ pilot.  Both families have our deepest sympathy and condolences.”  A public funeral service for Daleray Madewell will be held at 10 a.m. Feb. 16 at the Fort Reno Building at the Wyoming State Fairgrounds in Douglas, with Chaplain Wayne Laddusaw with the Pilots for Christ officiating. Pilots for Christ pilots will fly a tribute to Madwell following the service. A funeral service for Jennifer Sebesta will be held at 11 a.m. Feb. 18, at the Glenrock High School Gymnasium in Glenrock with Bishop Brooke Downs of the Glenrock Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints conducting the service.  Interment will be in the Glenrock Cemetery. Leslie 'Les' Clinton Drew

Tue, Jan 31, 2012
Meadows (David) Greenfield of Evanston, Ill, and son, Jonathan (Sharon) Drew of Helena.  Also surviving are step children: Lisa (Brian) Leven of Dallas, Texas, Jill (Jose) Torres in Vancouver, Wash., Murphy Doggett in Manassas, Va. and grandchildren Zoe Meadows Greenfield, Kate and Emily Leven, Alex and Grace Torres, Christine, Robbie and Katie Moore and Gianna Drew. His friends and students said Les was such a handsome man, intelligent and charming, never boring, never dull, so controversial, and so entertaining.  Les was known for his “dry” sense of humor.  When with Les, one never quite knew what to expect.  His private spider collection holds several thousand spiders, from rare, small, large, to common, (all dead, of course) and a vast collection of journals of arachnology.  Les also had a large library of over 1,000 books.  If he was here, he could tell you about them all.At his request, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice.Creel Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Today's letters: It's time for Scots to be free of the UK - National Post (blog)

We hope that boys seek the guidance of our “busybody” government and not Mr. Jonas’s column.K. Murphy and D. McCarthy, Toronto. The oracle of the obvious Re: U.S. May Never Fully Recover: BoC Governor, Jan. 23.Peter Sellers’ classic movie Being There was a send up on the cult of celebrity. In the movie, Mr. Sellers played an amiable ingenue named Chance Gardener who made obvious statements such as “flowers must grow,” which were seized upon by a fawning media and heads of state.Canada has its own Chance Gardener: Bank of Canada Governor Mark Carney. This week, the Post saw fit to give front-page treatment to three of his pronouncements that qualify Mr. Carney for the Chance Gardener award. He told us that the United States will be in difficulty for some time; it’s good to have diverse customers for Canada’s exports; and it’s bad to have too much household debt. I’m sure he would also agree that flowers must grow.As for the notion that the world awaits these comments, it is pure Canadian conceit. Leaders in Bonn and Beijing do not start their day looking for wisdom from Canada.Victor Godin, Richmond, B.C. Bibles, Korans, and Torahs all fine Re: Readers Agree...
