Trenton High boys basketball aims to end long drought - The Times of Trenton - NJ.com

Sun, Feb 19, 2012
Last year it was knocked out in the opening round by North Brunswick, 62-61.More recent losses in the tournament have included lopsided scores, like losing to Atlantic City by 21, Pennsauken by 20, Freehold Township by 11 and Rancocas Valley by 19. They were disqualified in 2009 and lost in the prelims two years ago. This year’s team is 18-6 and was eliminated from the Mercer County Tournament in the quarterfinals last week. I have been trying to shore up things that needed to be and establish even stronger learning environments and programs for the students here.” Sounds like help is on the way. “When we lost the middle schools,” Mack said, “you could see how certain high school programs declined. Basketball went down dramatically. Track went down dramatically.”Coincidence? “Think about it,” assistant basketball coach Bryan Caver said. “No title game since 2003? Not a coincidence.” Sharron Grady has been in the Trenton school district since the 1970s and actually taught both Mack and boys’ basketball coach Greg Grant. She also coached cheerleading and girls track. Director of athletics for two years now, Grady believes Trenton High basketball is poised to return to its glory days. “I definitely think it’s on the way back,” she said. “The kids have a different at...
