Memorials may be made to the family.  The obituary can be viewed and condolences left at was born on September 15, 1941 in Bogota, IL the son of Kenneth C. and Mildred (Grove) Smith.  James married Betty Russell on January 3, 1994 and she survives.  James worked at the Robinson Pottery, worked with his brother trucking for 15 years at Bekin's Trucking and retired from the Jasper County Country Club.  James enjoyed camping, spending time with his children and grandchildren, watching John Wayne Movies and listening to country music “when it was country music”.James is survived by his wife of 18 years, Betty Smith of Newton; his children, Roy (Lori) Cavazos of Palestine, Danny (Billie) Cavazos of Hidalgo, Te...

Sister Tressa taught at Immaculate Heart College, Kogoshima, Japan; served as teacher and volunteer at San Lucas Toliman Mission, Guatamala; and was librarian at Colegio Santa Francisca Romana, Bogota, Colombia. Other areas of ministry include: Activities and Volunteer Coordinator at Assisi Heights; Activities Assistant and Director at Woodside Convalescent Home, Rochester; Supervisor, Bear Creek Services, Rochester; Project Director, Child Care Resource and Referral, Rochester; and Paraprofessional at St. John School, RochesterSister Tressa is survived by four brothers and two sisters, Paul Piper, Robbinsdale, Pierre Piper, St. Louis Park, Preston (Lois) Piper, Roseville, Paige (Betsy) Piper, McLean, Va., Pat Piper, Rochester, and Paulette Schwenn, Apple Valley; and a sister-in-law, Marinez Piper. She is also survived by her Franciscan Congregation with whom she shared life for 50 years.Her parents and two brothers Padriac and Phillip preceded her in death.A Funeral Liturgy will be held Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes, Assisi Heights in Rochester. Friends may call at Assisi Heights for the Vigil Service at 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10, and before the time of the service on Tuesday.
