Mrs. Luella Persons, 81, of Rochester, died Sunday, Feb 5, 2012, after battling Alzheimer’s disease for many years.Luella Jane Wagner was born Nov. 27, 1930, in New Ulm, to Frank and Clara (Kienlen) Wagner. She grew up on a farm near Fairfax and attended St. Andrews grade school and Fairfax High School, where she was the class valedictorian and homecoming queen. Fran worked at State Bank of Springfield and University Bank in Minneapolis before her marriage. On May 8, 1943, she was united in marriage to Vernon J. Bolstad of New Ulm.Fran enjoyed her family and friends. She liked the outdoors, hiked and did lots of walking. Fran also golfed, bowled and played cards. Renae (Todd) Tydrich of La Crosse; his 12 grandchildren, Shawn (Robin) Wieser, Jesse Wieser (Michelle Steinfeldt), and Jodi (Nick) Erdmann, all of La Crescent, Minn., Jeremy (Kelli) Bolduan of New Ulm, Minn., Adam (Tiffany) Bolduan of La Crosse, Sarah (Joel) Christensen of La Crescent, Keith Bolduan of La Crosse, Matthew Bolduan of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Andy (Stephanie) Miller of Fond du Lac, Wis., and Jordan Miller and Dylan and Colton Tydrich, all of La Crosse; his 14 great-grandchildren, Bailey, Taylor, Kiara, Kailey, Lucas, Brody, Collin, Braden, Trevor, Ashley, Emerson, Jonah, Bella, and Claire, and one on the way in early 2012; his sibblings, Dolores Schmidt of Rushford, Minn., Verna (Gorden) Gerdes of Ridgeway, Minn., and Marcile Kuecker, Alice (Donald) Diersen, and Burton (Joyce) Bolduan, all of Caledonia; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Roland was preceded in death by his brother, Frank in infancy; one grandson, Brian Bolduan; one granddaughter, Erin Bolduan; one great-granddaughter, Lola Bolduan; two brothers-in-law, Melvin Schmidt and Mervin Kuecker; and a brother and sister-in-law, Almon and Lyn Roth. Roland was a person of deep, quiet faith, a very caring husband and father, always offering advice and direction up until the very end of his life. He will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 28, at 11 a.m. at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, 650 N. Kingston St., Caledonia. The Rev. Tom Schultz will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and also on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, Caledonia, is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be given at (Winona Daily News)

Edna Shellum and Myra Rengstorf; brothers, Melvin Bruns and Fred Bruns; and brothers-in-law, Tollof Shellum and Wesley Rengstorf.Frieda Nellie Braun was born on Nov. 7, 1926 in New Ulm to Fred and Frieda (Nothwehr) Bruns. She was confirmed on March 17, 1940, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet. Frieda graduated from Nicollet High School in 1944 and from Mankato Commercial College in 1945. On June 18, 1949, she was united in marriage with Stanley Braun at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet.Frieda worked in Benton Harbor, Mich. for two years as a secretary and in Lake City, also as a secretary for two years. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Mankato and its Lutheran Women's Missionary League, bible study, and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 510 for 51 years. Frieda loved her grandchildren and her family. She enjoyed reading, flowers, and feeding birds. (Post Bulletin)
