Whalan Lutheran parish. Helen is survived by her husband; her daughters, Dianne Hoover of Sioux Falls, S.D., Cindy Naber (Gene Schlueter) of Quincy, Ill.; and her son, Douglas (Lolly) Kessel of Lanesboro. She also leaves her grandson, Richard Jon ("R.J.") Naber of San Diego, granddaughters, Tara (Jeremy) Stejskal of Fountain, Emilee Matlock of Warsaw, Ill., and Amanda (Joe) McCabe of Chatfield. She was also surrounded with love from her four great-grandsons, Ethan and Tait Matlock, Alex Rowland, Trayton McCabe and her two great-granddaughters, Lillie Stejskal and Addison McCabe. She is also survived by her sisters, Viola Albers of Crystal Lake, Iowa, Luella Hagedorn of Buffalo Center, Iowa, and a brother, Duane (Laura) Johnson of Elmore. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, two sisters, four nieces and two nephews. Helen will be missed by all who knew her, many hearts she touched for sure.Funeral services are being arranged for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, at Whalan Lutheran Church with the Rev. Minn. Arnold was born Jan. 14, 1915, in Whalen to Alfred and Emma (Sveen) Thompson. He attended Whalen Country School through eighth grade. On Oct. 12, 1938, Arnold married Minerva Topness in Lanesboro. He started working at Gateway Trucking when he was 19. He was a member of Civilian Conservation Corps for a few years. When he retired from Gateway, he worked on the family farm until retiring at the age of 88. He loved working on the farm and taking care of the animals and always had a dog by his side.
