College Heights United Methodist Church in Pittsburg.  He also was a member of  the American Legion and the Lions Club.  On March 12, 1946, he married Lavonia Ruth Black at Coweta.  She preceded him in death on August 25, 2005.Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Reid and her husband Jim of Goddard, KS, and Nancy Shultz and her husband Brian of Erie; four grandchildren, Wayne Reid and his wife Kelly of Birmingham, Alabama, Mark Shultz of Wichita, Brenda (Reid) Priddle and her husband Michael of Goddard, and Kimberly Shultz of Pittsburg; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Nancy Engel of Carolton, Texas, and Louise Collins and her husband John of Mounds, Oklahoma.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, at the Erie Federated Church.    Burial will be at 2:30 p.m., Friday, at the Ft. Robert Cisewski and Alton "Putsie" Semling. Vernon was born April 5, 1934 in Chimney Rock, Wis., and later moved to Fountain City, where he met his loving wife, LaVonne (Grossell) of 54 years. They were married at St. John's Catholic Church of Winona on May 18, 1957. Vernon graduated from Fountain City High School in 1951 and worked in Onalaska, Wis., building dikes throughout 1952.
