Gerald M. 'Jerry' Anderson

Lakeshore, Inc., and was the founder and co-owner of SIM Supply, Inc., from 1974 until his retirement in 1994. Jerry was a very active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hibbing, the Sons of Norway Midnatsolen Lodge #058 in Hibbing, a 50-year member of Mesaba Lodge #255 AF&AM, the Scottish Rite Bodies, the Aad Temple Shrine, and the Range Shrine Club. He enjoyed the ROMEO breakfast club, deer hunting, and many other activities. Jerry was a man of quiet, strong faith whose family was his first love and priority. Monte W. Ferguson. They both retired from teaching in 1986. He preceded her in death in June 2003. Kay was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church, St. Rita’s Guild, and the Sons of Norway. She enjoyed camping, counted cross stitch, crossword puzzles and baking.Survivors include three children, Cherelee (Wayne) Martin of Moore, Craig (Debbie) Ferguson of White Salmon, Wash., and Susan (Dave) Woods of Lewistown; seven grandchildren, Toby Ferguson, Jeff (Andrea) Martin, Matt (Judi) Martin, Nick (Dorothy) Woods, Casey Ferguson, Krista (Nick Nowak) Woods and Patrick Woods; seven great-grandchildren, Jordan Ferguson, Trace, Jaden and Brady Martin, and Cole, Kate and Quin Martin. Heights in Rochester.He was born in Sanish, N.D., on Aug. 1, 1928, to parents Ole and Ruth Korsmo. Owen spent his youth in Northwood, N.D., where the Korsmo family settled after emigration from Norway. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls in 1946. Owen worked after graduation, then enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in 1951 and 1952.In 1952, Owen drove high school classmate and Rochester Mustangs hockey player, Don Brossoit, back to Rochester after Thanksgiving, and there he found a new job and community he would call home for the rest of his life. He was active in the scouting program, served on the Cub Scout Pack committee, was a Webelos leader, an assistant Scout master and a Scout master. DeLos served as Sons of Norway Lodge president and held various other positions since 1972 when he became a member of Kristiania, 1-47. He is a member of Nordlandslaget, Hadeland Lag, American Legion, life member of Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum, Rochester Senior Citizen Services and Rochester Woodcarvers Club.When he retired, he took up woodcarving. Norwegian style Acanthus woodcarving was his favorite. DeLos enjoyed making things for his children and grandchildren and then added some decorative carving designs as well.He is survived by his wife, Karen; son, Bjorn (Michelle and grandsons, Logan and Connor) of Oronoco: daughter, Kirstin Moerike (Todd and grandsons, Shea and Keegan) of Lenexa, Kan.; brothers Donald, David, Kenneth and Byron; and sister, Solveig VanOverbeke. Her parents immigrated from Norway and had three daughters, of which she was the middle. Ed Pauls, Developer of NordicTrack Exercise Device, Dies at 80

He met his wife, the former Florence Melhuse, at an alpine skiing club, and after they married in 1959 they spent a year traveling in Europe. While visiting relatives of his wife’s in Norway, they were presented with cross-country skis, which catalyzed their interest in the sport. In addition to his wife, son and daughter, Mr. Pauls is survived by two grandchildren. Mr. Pauls sold his company in 1986 to the CML Group, which produced various exercise machines under a NordicTrack line of products. After several years of profitability, the company went into decline and declared bankruptcy. NordicTrack was later acquired by Icon Health and Fitness, which still sells Mr. Pauls’s design. Born in Kanawha, Iowa, he graduated from the University of Chicago before earning his doctorate at the University of Oslo, Norway, in 1959. Dr. Reitan taught at the University at Buffalo from 1966 to 1998, and served as dean of the Natural Sciences and Mathematics Department from 1976 to 1979. Richland area about 10 years ago. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of New Richland, the American Legion, and the V.F.W. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and traveling, with Norway and Hawaii being his most memorable trips. Bowling was an enjoyable activity for Clayton, he was a life member of the American Bowling Congress. Farming was his passion, and even in his later years he loved driving around the countryside checking up on all the crops. Spending time with his loving family gave him much joy.
