NJ dad arrested in death of girl tossed in creek - USA Today

Wed, Nov 30, 2011
Morgan was then spotted on the home's back porch and, after a brief period where it appeared he might try to flee, Morgan was taken into custody. Monmouth County prosecutor Peter E. Warshaw Jr. praised the efforts of the U.S. Marshals Service and other law enforcement authorities that were involved in the search for Morgan, who is charged with Tierra's murder and also faces charges of child endangerment and interfering with custody in neighboring Ocean County. Tierra's body was found partially submerged in a creek near a roadway overpass in Shark River Park in Wall Township, N.J., about 20 miles north of her Lakehurst home. Her cause of death was listed as "homicidal violence, including submersion in water." At least 13 law enforcement agencies in and around New Jersey participated in the search for Morgan, covering airports, train stations, bus depots, and highway bridges and tunnels. He had an apartment in Eatontown, but had been staying on and off with a friend in Ocean Township, adjacent to Asbury Park. An obituary prepared by the church at which her funeral was held gave the child's full name as Tierra La'Shae Camaya Morgan-Glover, "a bright-eyed little girl with a warm smile." Clergy there said Tierra quickly became known as "the church baby" because her radiant smile and warm personality were so noticeable to anyone who attended services there. They said she enjoyed singing, loved mathematics, and was a quick learner. Shipkowski reported from Trenton, N.J., and Petski reported from Los Angeles. Copyright 2011 The Associated Press. Morgan fled the state and may have headed out West after Tierra was killed. "He remains a fugitive from justice, and we are still looking for him," said Christopher Gramiccioni, a spokesman for the Monmouth County prosecutor's office. Hundreds of mourners packed the church to hear clergy members recall the toddler whose pleasant disposition was known throughout the congregation. "Some babies just know church," said the Rev. Deniece Reid. "This baby knew church. She knew Jesus." The Rev. Bernadette Glover, the church's executive pastor, compared Tierra to a fine cologne whose essence lingers in a room long after its bearer had gone. "This beautiful child was an angel among us," she told mourners. "We are all here today because we have been touched by an angel. Every life matters to God, no matter how short it is." An obituary prepared by the church gave the child's full name as Tierra La'Shae Camaya Morgan-Glover, "a bright-eyed little girl with a warm smile." "Because of Tierra's delightful personality, she soon became 'The Church Baby' at Cathedral International of Asbury Park," the obituary said. "Tierra was a talented and advanced 2-year-old. She enjoyed singing, loved mathematics, and was always eager to learn." In his eulogy, Hilliard invoked the afterlife, promising mourners, "You will see your baby again." Stronghurst Graphic - Henderson County Quill

Wed, Nov 16, 2011
May 15th. Her whole life was spent in Henderson County near the place of her birth with the exception of three years they lived in Monmouth to give their children school advantages.? She was a woman of great energy and took an active part in public affairs in the community and in war work.? In her early life she confessed her faith in Christ and untied with the United Presbyterian Church of Walnut Grove, but when the congregation merged with that of Media, Ill., she transferred her membership to it in which connection she remained an active member, taking a leading part in the work of the church, especially of the Women?s Missionary Society in which she filled the office of president and treasurer, always holding an optimistic outlook for the work and was ready to back her words with deeds.? She never failed to show her pastors her hearty appreciation by her presence and earnest prayers. The funeral service was at home with interment in the Walnut Grove Cemetery. ***DR. J. A. BAILEY*** Residents of the community were shocked on Tuesday evening when word circulated that Dr. J. A. Bailey had dropped dead on the farm one and half miles west of Raritan where he and his wife have been living for the past few years. Dr. Bailey had hauled two loads of oats to Stronghurst during the day and after returning from the second trip in the evening was engaged in removing the harness from one of the horses when he toppled over on the straw in the stall and expired within a few moments.? No one else was about the stable at the time, but a few minutes later John Hunt of Raritan, who was employed on the farm, came in with a team from the field where he had been working discovered the still warm body lying in the stall.? It required but a brief examination to discover that life was extinct and it was decided that the county coroner sh...
