He was 86. Mr. Wiles had been a resident of Dosberg Manor, the assisted living portion of Weinberg Campus, Amherst, for about two years. Born in Buffalo, he was a graduate of Hutchinson-Central High School and completed one year at Erie County Technical Institute. He was a World War II Navy veteran and was stationed in the Philippines. Mr. Wiles was one of three African-Americans to pass the firefighters exam in the early 1950s, launching for him a 30- year career in the Buffalo Fire Department. Under Mayor James D.
