UT-Knoxville tuition increased; Roane State, Pellissippi State next? - Oak Ridger

Mon, Jun 25, 2012
Roane State remains a great value for students' time, money and hard work," Roane State President Gary Goff said."We have a 97 percent job placement rate and we're ranked the 27th best community college in the country in a StateUniversity.com survey. For students, it's crucial that they apply for financial aid early and research the many scholarship opportunities available to help with college costs.""Even with the proposed tuition increase, community colleges remain a great value for students with the quality programs we offer," agreed L. Anthony Wise, Pellissippi State president."Pellissippi State will continue to work with all of our students to make sure they have sufficient financial support to attend classes here."The proposed tuition for 12 credit hours for fall 2012 at Pellissippi State is $1,779.The U.S. Department of Education recently released its annual look at college affordability. Tuition, room and board average $8,085 at a public, two-year institution in 2010.Morgan said he hopes to keep Tennessee's community colleges affordable."Considering the mandatory fee, maintenance fee and tuit...
