Bowen. Jeannine was born October 15, 1925 in Battle Creek, MI and graduated from Evanston, IL High School in 1942. She attended Northwestern University for two years and then transferred to Mount Holyoke College in 1944, receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1946, majoring in political science. After marrying, she worked for six years as a publisher for the Commerce Clearing House in Chicago, IL. Jeannine and Dick were longtime residents of Barrington, IL where they raised their girls and were active members of the community and of the United Methodist Church. They retired to Albuquerque in 1992. Jeannine was an award winning fiber artist and was a member of The Embroiderers' Guild of America (Sandia Mountains Chapter), The New Mexico Quilters Association, The Chicago North Suburban Embroiderers Guild, and the DuPage (IL) Textile Arts Guild. She was 96. Born in Buffalo, she attended School 16 and won the Jesse Ketchum Medal for academic excellence in 1923. She graduated from Buffalo Seminary in 1933 and from Mount Holyoke College in 1937. In 1941, she graduated from the University of Buffalo School of Medicine, one of only four women in her class. She did her internship and ophthalmology residency at E. J. Meyer Memorial Hospital from 1941 to 1943 and started her private practice in 1943. She practiced under her maiden name, Mary I.
