In 1958 he transferred to an Infantry unit, followed by a transfer to a medical unit in 1977. He attended military schools at Fort Carson, Colo.; Fort Riley, Kan.; Fort Benning, Ga.; and Fort Greeley, Alaska. He completed Academy of Health Sciences U.S. Army, Fort Sam Houston, Texas. DeLos is a graduate of U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kan., in 1975. DeLos served in the Minnesota Army National Guard for 26 years and attained the rank of major at the time of his retirement. One highlight of his military service was his work with the Norwegian Home Guard in their winter training in Minnesota. His fluent Norwegian conversation led to him being sought out by many of the officers and troops.DeLos married Frances Karen McCutcheon in Rochester in 1967. He and Karen have one son, Bjorn (he and his wife, Michelle, have two sons) and a daughter, Kirstin (she and her husband, Todd, have two sons).DeLos is a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and served on various committees and the church council. He was active in the scouting program, served on the Cub Scout Pack committee, was a Webelos leader, an assistant Scout master and a Scout master. His parents, one brother, Don, and one granddaughter, Sarah, preceded Bill in death. First moving to Provo so her husband could continue his education, the family finally settled in Orem where a set of twins were born. With an exception of eighteen months in Greeley, Colorado, where her last child was born, Orem became the family home for the next twenty-six years. While in Orem, Clarice worked as a volunteer for the Scera Theater and did home care for children. It was later in Orem that Clarice worked for and retired from Utah Valley Hospital after fourteen years. After retirement, Clarice and her husband moved to St. George. Always active, Clarice produced quilts, clothing, pillow cases and embroidered towels for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She eventually established a business, hem stitching other's quilts. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Clarice worked in the primary organization as a teacher and chorister. She spent over ten years working with Cub Scouting. She was remembered for always being involved in Relief Society, doing compassionate service for others. Clarice served a one year mission with her husband in the Washington D.C. North Mission where they worked in the Temple Visitor's Center. Clarice has been a temple worker in the St. George Temple for over six years. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Little Valley LDS 3rd Ward Chapel, 2079 East 2450 South, St. George, Utah. Visitations will be held Friday evening, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd. and on Saturday, prior to services, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Chapel. He especially enjoyed teaching others. As Glen was fond of saying, he was a jack-of-all-trades and a master of none. Glen is survived by his wife, Helen of Cody; children, Terri (Larry) Werner of Greeley, CO, David Stringham of Wyoming, Karin (Steven) Hopkins of Cheyenne, WY, Donna (Ronald) Rash of Cheyenne, WY; stepchildren, Karey (Ty) Henrichs of Cody, WY, Mark Schuster of Cody, WY; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Beverly Valdez of Casper, WY, Cora Verhulst of Spearfish, SD; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Vera Stringham and Betty Smith; brother, Kumen Stringham; and his first wife, Betty Lou Stringham. The funeral service will be Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1719 Wyoming Avenue, Cody, WY 82414, with burial in Riverside Cemetery.
