Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bloomington LDS 7th Ward Chapel, 3381 S. Mulberry Dr., St. George, UT. Visitations will be held on Friday, November 4, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd., and on Saturday, from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the chapel. Oct. 21: In 2007, wildfires fanned by Santa Ana winds began to ravage San Diego County. The fires lasted nearly a month and burned more than 1,700 homes. They killed 10 people and prompted the evacuation of more than half a million. At the disaster's height, seven separate wildfires raged as shown on this interactive map.

In 1998, the Padres were shut out and swept out of the World Series by the New York Yankees at Qualcomm Stadium. That gave the team a 1-8 record in World Series play that stands to this day. And looks like it will stand a while longer....
Oct. 22: In 1962, Marines began secretly moving out of San Diego County in response to the Cuban Missile Crisis. When the crisis ended on Oct. 28, the 11,000-member 5th Marine Expeditionary Brigade was speeding by sea from Camp Pendleton to the Caribbean. These days, everyone knows the situation was actually resolved by these guys.

Kevin is survived by his wife, Cheri Risk of Greeley; daughter, Torrie Barr (Jaden) of Windsor, Colo., son, Brandon Risk of Santa Ana, Calif.; stepdaughters, Heather and Tammy; stepson, Eric; mother, Alice Jo Risk of Greeley; father, Ronal Risk (Sherle) of Sioux City; brother, Mike Risk (Renee) of Plano, Texas; sister, Renee Brown (Kevin) of Greeley; ex-wife, Sherea Risk of Denver; beloved dog, Bailey Risk; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Survived by mother, Elva Elsner; son, Keith Elsner; daughter, Malia Sage; sisters, Pamela Elsner and Paula Nurse; companion, Michelle Cook; three grandchildren.
