Toby of Columbia and Amber Wilson and husband, Jared of McKinney, Texas; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill Cook and wife, Marjorie of Chandlerville; a sister, Mary Ann Siltman of Roseville; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters, Woodrow Cook, Anita Cook, Dorothy Carpenter, Daniel Cook, James Joseph Cook, and Clifford Cook.A 1950 graduate of Chandlerville High School, Jim attended Lincoln Christian College for five years, Central Christian College for two years, and served six years with the Illinois National Guard. He began his long and passionate ministerial career by serving pastorates in Browning, Ill., Pigott, Ark., Atlanta and Leonard, Prescott, Ariz., Ashland, Ill., St. Joseph, Mich., and then worked in the publishing department at Lincoln Christian College and an interim pastorate in Havana, Ill.He returned to full time pastoral care at Ashland, Ill., Vandalia, Panama City, Fla., Beardstown, Ill., Petersburg, Ill., and Aberdeen, Miss prior to retiring in Portland where he provided pulpit supply for Pilot Grove, High Hill, and Gasconade churches.In addition, Jim conducted numerous evangelistic crusades and revival meetings throughout the United States. She spoke of their close friendship and expressed that she missed him everyday. She is survived by her four children, Leland Ford and wife Susan of Albany, Carolyn Miller and husband Chuck of Roseville, Calif., Cyndie Hampton and husband Bill of Medford, and Angela Ritchie of Soldotna, Alaska. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren. Charlene graduated from Oregon State University in 1967 with a teaching degree and in 1971 com-pleted her master's degree in higher education also from OSU. She taught elementary school and junior high at several locations throughout Oregon. She retired from Seven Oaks Middle School after a 34-year teaching career. She loved to crochet and gi... Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 19, at 2 p.m. at Bricelyn Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 18, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Bricelyn, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Elizabeth Winship, 90, wrote ‘Ask Beth’ column

Elizabeth Winship was 90. Her son, Larry Winship, told the Associated Press on Friday that she died of natural causes last Sunday at Rosewood Estates, an assisted-living facility in Roseville, Minn. The Globe said Winship wrote “Ask Beth” for 35 years. She was the widow of longtime Globe editor Thomas Winship. The column, described by one daughter as the first “to treat young people with complete respect and honesty,” was once syndicated to 70 newspapers. A service was held Thursday in Roseville.
